Residents win fight to block plans for three storey apartments

RESIDENTS have won a planning battle over plans for a three-storey block of apartments near their homes on Kingsway North, Warrington.

Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee rejected the scheme against the advice of planning officers who recommneded it for approval saying it would not result in any detrimental impact on the character of the area, nor on the amenity of neighbours.

Seventeen neighbours had objected to the scheme, along with borough councillor Tony Higgins.
They claimed the development of six apartments would be an over-development of the site that would lead to a loss of privacy, a harmful impact on neighbours’ amenity and disturbance through vehicle movements.
Members of the committee voted to refuse the application much to the delight of Cllr Higgins who had been campaigning on their behalf.
