Fly-tipper fined for dumping bedframe and bags of rubbish near home

A fly-tipper has had to pay more than £1,000 in fines and costs after dumping a metal bedframe and numerous bags of waste near his home in Warrington.

Simon Dilorenzo, 48, of Sealand Close, Poulton with Fearnhead, dumped the waste behind a storage container at Woodvale Close in July 2020.

Following an investigation by the council’s environmental crime team, a warrant was issued for his arrest in early April 2021 after he failed to attend two court hearings.
Dilorenzo pleaded guilty to fly-tipping at Warrington Magistrates Court on 21 April 2021. He was fined £500 and required to pay further costs of £500 and a victim surcharge of £30.
Professor Steven Broomhead MBE, Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council said: “Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in fly-tipping during the pandemic. Residents should not have to foot the bill to clear public areas due to the selfish acts of a minority of people who illegally dump waste.
“Warrington residents are tired of the hazardous actions of these individuals and are increasingly willing to come forward and assist us with investigations by providing information. When fly tipping is reported, we pursue the offenders vigorously where we have evidence and seek to prosecute them.”
