Thirteen Independent candidates standing in Warrington local elections – unlucky for some?

AS the local elections in Warrington draw near on May 6th, thirteen local Independent candidates are hoping to follow in the shoes of neighbouring towns where the selection of Independent Councillors has been a huge success.

The Independent candidates, who have been liaising with independents at nearby Rainhill for advice, are all driven by issues of residents within the wards they are representing and vary from the local plan and climate emergency to anti-social behaviour through to care in the community of Warrington’s senior citizens.

The thirteen Independent Candidates standing in Warrington are;
Beth Trainer Bewsey & Whitecross
Dave Clark Great Sankey North & Whittle Hall
Nigel Catlow Great Sankey North & Whittle Hall
Trevor Nicholls Orford
Joe Griffiths Lymm South
Geoff Fellows Penketh & Cuerdley
Andy Heaver Penketh & Cuerdley
Craig Lenihan Penketh & Cuerdley
Mal Lingley Poplars & Hulme
Jon Parr Poulton North
Paul Bray Rixton & Woolston
Debra Duddle Westbrook
Jason Webb Westbrook
All candidates live in their respective wards.
The Council currently comprises of three Independent Councillors, but their hope and belief this time around, is that this number could significantly increase.
“As an Independent candidate in Warrington, my aim is to support positive changes for the residents and to address and deal with issues that arise and may concern them,” stated Paul Bray (Woolston & Rixton).
Whilst Beth Trainer (Bewsey and Whitecross), an active volunteer in her ward helping the victims of the recent floods added: “National politics and policies aside, we are calling on residents to vote for the person and not the party”.
Beth added, “Living in the area I hope to represent is really important to me and I look forward to hopefully having the opportunity to do so”.
Jon Parr (Poulton North) added: “I have got to know quite a number of the Independent candidates over the past days and months, and the one thing that stands out with all of them, is a passion and desire to see their wards thrive”. He continued “All Independent candidates are involved within their communities and being in touch with residents from their respective wards makes them perfectly suited to understanding their needs moving forward”.
