POLICE are seeking help from the public following a spate of thefts from gardens in Warrington.
Valuable items have been stolen from three gardens in the town over the past few weeks.
Three large rocking horses were stolen from a garden in Connaught Avenue,
three garden lights and two stone ornaments of a hedgehog and a turtle were stolen from a garden in Sandy Lane, Orford and solar lights, a stone ornament of a heron and white stone ornaments of a young boy and girl were stolen from a garden in Dovedale Close.
These items are of particular sentimental value to the owner as they were given as a present by a relative who is currently serving in Afghanistan.
Police appealed for any information in relation to the incidents.
Sgt Ian Stott said: “These items, in particular those stolen from the garden in Dovedale Close, have great sentimental value to the owners and we would like to see them returned to their rightful owners.
“Items with such sentimental value can never be replaced and we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents or may have any information which could help us with our enquiries.”
Residents in the area are being urged to be on their guard and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
They are also being urged to be the eyes and ears of the local neighbourhood and to keep an eye on their neighbours’ gardens – especially if they are away on holiday.
Anyone who can help should call police on 0845 458 0000 or use the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
