MEN’S Health Awareness Week will kick off in Warrington at Wolves’ home game against Hull Kingston Rovers tonight (Friday)
NHS Warrington, Wolves and the Wolves Foundation are joining forces to promote the next phase of the Tackling Health campaign – Men’s Health Awareness – at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The aim is to encourage men of all ages to look after and think about their health.
During the game, Warrington Youth Services will base their outreach vehicle “Station 12” outside the ground and health professionals will be on board offering blood pressure checks, advice and body mass index checks.
For all fans who are interested in getting involved in an activity or sport, there will be an opportunity to see what’s available in the Warrington area.
A showcase of local clubs will take place pre-match and at half-time in the South stand.
Among clubs and organisations present will be: Warrington Town FC,
Age Concern, Warrington Basketball Association, Warrington Rugby League Service Area, Positive Futures, Warrington Rangers and Warrington Cycling Projects.
Players will warm up in funny health themed t-shirts which have been specially designed for the game in partnership with NHS Warrington. Fans can purchase these limited edition t-shirts in the Wolves club shop the week after the game.
Match entertainment will include a half time ‘race for health’ and an energetic display by Fusion Elite, the Wolves Foundation Community Dance Team.
Wolves’ player Jon Clarke is offering his full support to raising awareness of men’s health and said: “It’s vital that men of all ages take good care of their health and contact their GP should they feel unwell or notice anything unusual. “We can all take steps to feel good and stay fit and healthy, making small lifestyle or dietary changes can make a big difference to your health.”
