A SHOP worker at Warrington was stabbed during a robbery, police revealed today.
The raid was at the Spar store at Cinnamon Brow shortly before 3pm on Monday (June 7).
A man entered the shop, brandishing a large knife and approached a woman member of staff demanding money from the till.
When she refused, he became aggressive, attacking the counter, smashing bottles of wine.
A male member of staff intervened but was stabbed in the hand and, realising they were in danger, staff backed away. The man then grabbed the till drawer and left the shop.
Later, a 38-year-old Warrington man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and, after being questioned, was released on bail while further enquiries are made.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the incident, or anyone who saw the offender entering or leaving the store. Anyone who can help is asked to call DC Calvin Fletcher at Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000 or to contact the confidential Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.

This is my local shop and I am appalled that once again the staff have not only been threatened with violence but also been on the receiving end.
The staff are excellent, happy, friendly and very helpful at all times.
A couple of years ago it was firearms and it took them a while to recover now they have to get over this incident. Cinnamon Brow is a very quiet and peaceful place and maybe because of that fact was chosen as a soft target. However this is an exception and hopefully the culprit was recorded on the CTV cameras.
I wish the staff well and hope that who ever did this is caught quickly.
