AWARD-winning actor and writer Derek Vernon says he is “very honoured” after becoming a Patron of local charity The Shannon Bradshaw Trust.
Founded by Patti and Alan Bradshaw following the loss of their seven-year-old daughter Shannon from Aplastic Anaemia, Derek has become the latest patron of the charity based in Warrington.
Derek was a former amateur Boxer and Brown belt in Ju-Jitsu and represented Cheshire in athletics where he won many races including the Helsby and Warrington Half Marathons.
As an actor he has appeared in many Feature Films, TV soaps and documentaries.
On stage Derek was cast in 28 ”Evita” shows with Marti Pellow and has also appeared in Many Opera’s.
As a writer, he has co-written a vampire feature film with an established writer and is presently writing his first Warrington-based feature film script.
A documentary about Derek’s life story won the Warrington film of the year and also the Liverpool documentary of the year.
Derek also works part-time for Warrington Borough Council looking after children with disabilities and is also a Voluntary litter picker.
He is also a Registered Minister and has married couples all over the country.
Commenting on becoming a patron Derek said: “I am very honoured and I will do my very best to help and promote the charity.”
