‘Boris’ joins Warrington Male Voice Choir for lockdown remix fundraiser

A chorister has surprised his fellow members by fixing it for ‘Boris’ to appear on a new recording of Warrington Male Voice Choir’s successful Lockdown Blues, to mark the first anniversary of when the choir started virtual rehearsals.

With words and music written by Musical Director Russell Paterson, and individual performances by members in their own homes, Lockdown Blues was originally released in May last year (2020), to raise money for Mind Halton.

One year on, Russell has brought the song up to date, with new verses, a new arrangement and a new title ‘Lockdown Blues 2021 Remix’.
For this anniversary version, a number of choristers were also asked to record their own ‘visual interpretation’, of a particular verse and that’s how one member ended up using ‘Boris’ to sing the words ‘Life is never easy, everything was such a task. Even singing isn’t easy when you have to wear a mask!’
If you want to know how ‘Boris’ performed, you’ll have to wait until ‘Lockdown Blues 2021 Remix’ goes live, on the choir’s YouTube channel, on 30 March 2021. This performance will also act as a fundraiser for the choir, which has not performed live for over twelve months.
