POLICE seized more than 50,000 counterfeit cigarettes during a raid on two shops on Orford Lane, Warrington, earlier today during a multiple agency operation.

Warrington LPU led by PST and beat team alongside multiple agencies executed two warrants at shops on Orford Lane, and flats above them, in the fight against illicit tobacco and counterfeit goods.
More than 50,000 counterfeit cigarettes were seized and taken out of circulation.

The sale of these products affects legitimate businesses with the loss of revenue and with no taxes paid.
Police thanked all members of the community who assisted with this operation.
*Police later secured a three-month closure order on the premises.
Inspector Danny Haddock said: “This has been a tremendous success for our problem solving and neighbourhood teams, I would like to thank the public who came forwards to tell us about the problems on Orford Lane, this has been about far more than counterfeit cigarettes, but ensuring that the residents of Warrington feel safe to walk down any street.
