THE North West’s first Trade Recycling Centre for small and medium sized firms is to open near Warrington next week.
It will be open seven days-a-week and offered cost-effective, fixed-price recycling.
The Trade Recycling Centre (TRC) has been under development at the Millfield Business Centre, Haydock since March and will open on Tuesday (June 8)
Envirolink Northwest, the organisation that supports the development and growth of the energy and environmental technologies and services (ETS) sector in the North West, will work on project as part of a consortium with Centrol Recycling Group and Gordon Mackie Associates. The pilot TRC project will help users tackle the many barriers to recycling trade waste through a bespoke recycling centre.
Amy Glover, business development manager, Envirolink Northwest said: “The disposal of trade waste has traditionally presented local businesses with some difficulties.
“Lack of capacity, opportunity and incentive has discouraged the practice of trade recycling however the development of facilities such as these will improve the region’s recycling rates. We are confident that the pilot site will be a success and we hope that this will be the first of many to appear across the North West.”
The centre is projected to service 5000-6000 businesses in the area.
Rachael Oborn, group chairman, Centrol Recycling Group, said: “By offering fixed cost recycling and seven day site opening we are confident TRC will become an invaluable tool for SMEs to recycle more waste in a cost effective way.”
Envirolink Northwest, funded by the Warrington-based North West Development Agency, aims to develop the North West’s environmental technology and services sector by making it a competitive force to provide sustainable solutions to environmental problems.
