A WOMAN fought off an attempt by a man to steal her car on a busy car park at Warrington.
The 47-year-old grabbed hold of the offender and forcibly threw him out of the car on the car park at the Birchwood shopping centre, close to the Peacock pub.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the attempted robbery which occurred about 7.20pm last night (Wednesday).
The woman was dragged from her red VW Golf car on the car park and the offender got into the vehicle and tried to start it.
But she grabbed him and pulled him out of the car.
He then ran off leaving the woman shocked but unhurt.
The man was aged about20-21 and of slim build. He was wearing a light grey hooded tracksuit with a hood pulled up and white Umbro trainers. He had a big nose and noticeable cheekbones with dark stubble.
Police believe he had been loitering in the vicinity of the Birchwood Centre and Asda petrol station prior to the incident.
The area was busy with shoppers at the time and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or seen anyone matching the description. Anyone who can help should call Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
