Store names charity of the year

SUPERMARKET customers and staff have voted for their “charity of the year.”
The Friends of Culcheth Linear Park have been selected as the local charity partner of Sainsbury’s, Culcheth.
This means staff and customers at the store will support the through volunteer work throughout the year.
The store will also organise various fundraising activities over the next 12 months.
Funds raised will go towards giving access to the park to disabled people, and to general upkeep and maintenance of the park.
Sainsbury spokesman Michael McHugh, who was involved in the selection process, said: “Its great to be supporting a local charity who we could really benefit through volunteering and fundraising.
“We are proud to be associated with Linear Park and hope to have the opportunity to support other local charities in the future.”
The store will kick-off the partnership with The Friends tomorrow (Friday)
In-store collections will take place and customers will be invited to join in and support planned fundraising activities.
Store manager Jaine Bergin said: “We are really pleased and excited to support The Friends of Linear Park. The hard work starts now, but I can definitely see our store building a strong relationship with Linear Park and making a difference to their work.”
