HOME-Start Warrington celebrates the second annual National Family Week with a family sport session in conjunction with “Activate Fun”.
The Warrington group is one of 336 Home-Starts across the UK that make up the UK’s leading family support charity.
Through a network of trained parent volunteers, Home-Start Warrington supports families who are struggling to cope, whatever the reasons, including; post natal depression, illness, bereavement, lone parenting, teenage parents, multiple births, poverty and isolation. Home-Start also supports parents who are just finding life with very small children a little bit difficult.
Volunteers offer emotional and practical support in families’ own homes and the Warrington group currently has 23 home visiting volunteers supporting 27 families.
The family sporting fun event will have two sessions at the Old Fish Market, Golden Square, Warrington, 10.00 – 11.30 and 12.30 – 2.00 on Thursday (June 3).
Kate Griffiths, Home-Start Warrington’s family support co-ordinator said: “National Family Week is all about celebrating the importance of family life and highlighting the benefits of spending quality time with your family. As a family support charity we feel that we needed to get behind National Family Week and, with the families that we support show that reading to your children, enjoying picnics together, playing games and taking part in active outdoor events is an essential part of family life.”
National Family Week runs from today (Monday) to June 6. It’s a week long celebration of family life that includes picnics, sports days, storytelling, games nights, and film days. To find out more visit www.nationalfamilyweek.co.uk
