THE M6 near Croft was closed earlier today (Wednesday) as Warrington firefighters tackled a car blaze on the southbound carriageway near junction 21.
One fire engine attended from Warrington attended at the scene at 3pm following reports of a fire involving a car on the M6.
On arrival, the crew found one car well alight.
One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
The motorway was closed for a short time but has since reopened.
There were no injuries reported.
