WARRINGTON residents can learn to cook, eat and enjoy healthy food with a series of events held by NHS Warrington for Healthy Eating Week.
A healthy eating information stand, including free fruit and other giveaways, will be at Fearnhead Cross Community Centre, Insall Road, Fearnhead today (Wednesday) from 9.30am – 11.30am and at Dallam Childrens Centre, Boulting Avenue, Dallam tomorrow from 9.30am – 12.30pm.
Also today, the health iVan will be visiting The Woodlands Children’s Centre, Admirals Road, Oakwood 10am – 4.00pm, to give healthy eating information plus advice from cancer ccreening specialists, BMI (body mass index) and blood pressure checks.
On Saturday (May 29) the healthy eating stand will be at the entrance to Warrington Market in the town centre from 9.30am – 4.00pm. In conjunction with Warrington Market’s Food Festival, there will be a cookery demonstration with Jason Palin, the chef ambassador for Warrington Market.
Jason has taught cooking in local colleges and organised some great fun food events locally. There will be healthy giveaways including useful soup recipe cards and a “soup in a bag” – where the first 100 members of the public to complete a survey will be offered the ingredients in a bag to take home and cook leek and potato soup for themselves.
All week, schools in the Warrington Area will receive a Change 4 Life pack to display and information regarding Change 4 Life supporters where materials and lesson plans can be downloaded.
