Woman and dog rescued from Sankey Canal

FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a woman and her dog from the Sankey Canal off Liverpool Road, Sankey Bridges.

Two fire engines attended, one from Warrington and one from Penketh along with a water incident unit following reports of a dog in a canal off Liverpool Road at around 12.45 on Thursday afternoon.
On arrival, firefighters found that the owner of the dog had also entered the water.
The crews managed to rescue the owner, a woman, and the dog from the canal.
First aid was provided to the woman who was then handed into the care of paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.
The crews were on scene for around 30 minutes.
