Work set to proceed as fears vulnerable residents will be left in the cold by planned power cut

UPDATED: VILLAGERS at Walton and Moore look set to be without electricity for up to seven hours later this month raising fears vulnerable people will be left in the cold by a planned power cut.

Moore Parish Council Clerk Kate Finch has flagged the issue with Scottish Power who have responded to say the work is likely to continue as planned.
The work is still scheduled to go ahead… it is work which has already been paid for by a customer and was delayed from last year, so is now holding them up from moving into their premises.
Generators have been considered, but are not a viable option because of the volume of substations involved.
Residents who are medically dependent/particularly vulnerable are advised to contact the outages team on 0141 614 5880 to arrange assistance.
Residents are also advised to continue to plan for the interruption of power, although severe weather conditions closer to the day may still delay things.
Residents of Hobb Lane in Moore and Walton received the notification from Scottish Power on Tuesday, informing them their power supply will be temporarily turned off on 17th February between 9am and 4pm because of planned work on Keckwick Lane in Daresbury.
Kate said: “As Clerk to Moore Parish Council, where approximately 25 properties are affected, I contacted Walton Parish Council to make them aware of this situation.
“Altogether, I understand potentially 40-50 properties could be without power all day, at a time when nobody has an alternative place to go to and when the temperature is so very cold. There are elderly, vulnerable people, people working from home and parents trying to home school all caught up in this situation,” said Kate.
