A TAXI driver was attacked and robbed by three men at Warrington in what appeared to be an attempt to steal his car.
The 32-year-old cabbie was attacked shortly before midnight last night.
He had picked up two men at the King and Queen pub in Padgate Lane and taken them to Latchford, where a third man was picked up.
They continued to Winwick Road where they became aggressive, eventually forcing the driver to pull over near to a Co-op store on Kingsway South.
Detectives in Warrington are appealing for information after a Taxi driver was robbed.
The men then assaulted the driver, and demanded his keys from him, in an attempt to steal his car.
But at this point some passing motorists stopped nearby, causing the offenders to run off into a nearby housing estate.
As a result of the incident the taxi driver sustained minor injuries.
Police say the first offender was aged 25-30 years, of stocky build, with dark blonde hair shaved at the sides. The second man was in his early 20s, about 5 ft 7 inches tall, of athletic build and with ginger hair. The third o man was again aged 25-30 years, 5 ft 8 inches tall, with short dark blonde hair and a round face.
