A PLANNING inspector has ruled against a Warrington householder who wanted to build a two storey extension on the side of his house.
The inspector says the extension at a house in Saffron Close, Longbarn, would create a cramped form of development resulting in the loss of a visually important gap in the street scene.
This would harm the character and appearance of the area.
The inspector says although some dwellings in the area are link-detached, this does not detract from the spacious appearance of the area.
At ground floor level the extension would have little impact on the street scene, but at first floor level there would be a significant reduction in the gap between the house and the property next door.
