HUNDREDS of cannabis plants have been uncovered by police at Warrington.
Officers from Warrington West Neighbourhood Policing Unit found more than 400 cannabis plants when they raided an address in Station Road, Penketh.
Some 430 plants – and the equipment used to grow them – were found in what amounted to a cannabis factory.
The plants and equipment were seized and taken away.
PC Nat Lewis, of the Proactive Partnership Team at Warrington West NPU, said: “This is a significant find and shows the ongoing commitment of officers to target suspected criminal activity and anti-social behaviour within the local community.”
The raid was one of a number in the area over the past few months.
Inspector Brian Heywoodsaid: “We are committed to tackling drug related crime. It is an issue of concern in the local community and we will do all we can to put a stop to it.
“We know that illegal drugs can have a major impact on an area and it is an issue we take extremely seriously. Members of the public can rest assured that our efforts will continue.
“Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against crime and we would urge anyone with any information in relation to drug related crime to call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
