One more COVID-19 death while infection rates rise for fourth consecutive day

ONE more COVID-19 death has sadly been reported at Warrington & Halton Hospital since yesterday, while 72 new cases have been confirmed in the town, showing an increase in infection rates for a fourth consecutive day.

The 72 (42) new cases in Warrington in the latest daily update from Public Health England takes the total since the start of the pandemic to 8,839 (8,767).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days are 294 (271) – 140 (129) per 100,000 population – showing a continuing upward trend in infection rates over a seven day period for a fourth consecutive day.
The R number in the UK is between 0.9 and 1, according to latest figures. R represents the average number of people each person with COVID-19 goes on to infect.
