Three more COVID-19 hospital deaths and 57 new cases as downward trend continues

THREE more patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 while 57 new cases have been confirmed in the town, showing a slight downward trend in infection rates.

The 57 (29) new cases in Warrington in the latest daily update from Public Health England takes the total since the start of the pandemic to 8,623 (8,566).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days are 247 (255) – 117.6 (121.4) per 100,000 population – continuing a downward trend in infection rates.
Meanwhile SAGE reports that the UK’s R number has risen slightly to between 0.9 and 1, according to new figures.
R represents the average number of people each person with COVID-19 goes on to infect.
Last week, the estimated R number was between 0.8 and 1.0 in the UK – its lowest level since August.
