St George’s Day
A ST George’s Day event is to be held at Longford Neighbourhood Centre tomorrow (Sunday) between 11am and 4pm. Food and drink will be available, along with a cake stall and face-painting, badge-making, tombola and car boot sale. Details: 01925 414631.

Homes refused
PLANNING bosses have refused permission for four houses, with associated landscaping and parking, on land at the rear of Manchester Road, Warrington.

Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery organised by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 6,9,10 and 15 – but no-one claimed the jackpot prize which will be “rolled over” to next week. A £25 consolation prize was awarded to a member of the hospital staff.

Barn conversion
PLANS to change the use of a barn to a dwelling at Highfields Farm, Waterworks Lane, Winwick, have been approved by Warrington planners. The scheme also involves relocating an existing farm building and removing a static caravan.

Tree works
PROPOSED works to trees at All Saints Church, Thelwall and in Stockport Road, Thelwall, York Drive, Grappenhall and Hunts Lane, Grappenhall, have been approved by planning chiefs. Some of the trees are in conservation areas.
