Have your say on South East Warrington proposals

HOMES England is launching a second round of engagement on the proposed South East Warrington Urban Extension.

This follows a good initial response from the community, which saw more than 4,900 individual comments and responses provided to the engagement exercises that took place last year..

The 4,200-home urban extension, allocated within Warrington Borough Council’s Local Plan, seeks to integrate new residential neighbourhoods with existing communities, delivering high-quality homes and facilities that reflect local aspirations and future needs.

Since the initial engagement, Homes England has undertaken a range of technical surveys and assessments to inform the next stage preparing a Development Framework for the site. The project team is carefully considering key themes raised by residents, including infrastructure, environment, sustainability and community facilities. Updates on this work, along with details of how public feedback is shaping the emerging vision, are now available at www.southeastwarrington.co.uk.

An update on Appleton Cross Local Centre is also provided on the website, explaining progress made in the developer partner selection process. Adjacent to the recently completed Orchard Meadows development, the Local Centre will provide community services including a new health centre.

Homes England is now inviting further feedback to help refine the South East Warrington proposals. Residents can share their views online via the project website until April 6, after which this phase of engagement will close. Further engagement on a draft masterplan and delivery plan is expected later in 2025, before the Development Framework is agreed with Warrington Borough Council.

A spokesperson for Homes England said: “We are committed to working closely with the local community to ensure the development meets future needs and reflects community priorities. The feedback we received last autumn has been invaluable in shaping our approach and we encourage residents to visit our website to learn more about the progress we have made, and to provide further input.”
