Electrical fault believed to have caused house fire at Lymm

THREE fire crews were called out last night (Wednesday) following reports of a house fire on Higher Lane, Lymm.

At 20:15 crews from Lymm, Warrington and Greater Manchester attended reports of a house fire on Higher Lane.

Crews were called to a fire in an airing cupboard on the first floor of the property.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets, two covering jets and a large fan to tackle the fire. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for signs of hot spots.
The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical fault.

Earlier in the day at 13.43 one crew from Penketh attended reports of a chimney fire on Upton Drive, Great Sankey.
Firefighters were called after a fire started inside a chimney. The crew were able to access the chimney from above using ladders and extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. A thermal imaging camera and gas monitor were used to check for signs of potential fire spread.
