WARRINGTON’S specialist drugs and alcohol support service is looking ahead to the next five years of supporting people, thanks to the award of a new contract.

CGL (Change, Grow, Live) – known locally as Pathways to Recovery – has been awarded the borough council’s contract to continue to deliver Warrington’s drug and alcohol treatment service, until 2029.
Since October 2007, CGL has been delivering an adult only (aged 18 and over) service. However, with the new contract, this has now expanded to an “all-age” offer, with a new dedicated provision for young people.
While the service will continue to provide drug and alcohol treatment as before, there will be some new additions around enhanced work with people who have criminal convictions, and work with other groups such as military veterans, alongside the additional work with young people.
The new offer will be badged locally as “Pathways Plus” symbolising the new and improved offer.

CGL has already hosted a special event marking the award of the contract and the enhancements being made to the service.
Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, Maureen McLaughlin joined partners to meet the team, find out more about the work they are doing and their plans for the future.
She said: “CGL have been doing a fantastic job for almost 17 years, helping people overcome drug and alcohol misuse and regain control of their lives. They have supported many adults and their families providing a range of pathways to recovery.
“It’s great news that, that through the award of this new contract, they will not only be continuing this invaluable work but extending it with dedicated provision for our young people. I was pleased to be able to meet the team, thank them for their work and find out more about their plans to reach even more people in need.”
