TRIBUTES are being made to well-known former local Cllr. and community champion Mary Greenslade who has sadly died following several months of illness.

Mary and husband Jim played prominent roles as part of Woolston Parish Council for many years and contributed hugely to the community.

She was also a former Labour Cllr. on Warrington Borough Council and played a prominent role in the aftermath of the IRA bomb attack on Warrington in 1993, helping with peace and reconciliation groups.

She is pictured volunteering at a community litter pick on the New Cut trail in 2016, one of numerous activities she was involved with in the local community.

When notice of her death was posted on social media, local residents sent messages of condolences to family and friends and paid tribute to the local community champion.

Mary and Jim stood down at the last parish council elections after many years of service.
