Road closures confirmed for Warrington Running Festival

WARRINGTON Running Festival this Sunday, September 22, and a number of road closures have been confirmed across the town.

Last year’s Running Festival attracted around 6,000 runners and road closures will be in place from between 5;30 am until 2pm, to ensure runners can complete the course safely.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following: –
Temporary Prohibition of Driving (Between the hours of 5:30 am and 2:00 pm):
Entire lengths of road: Ackers Road; Barbauld Street; Bold Street; Bridge Foot; Bridge Street; Broad Lane; Cairo Street; Cantilever Bridge; Cantilever Northwest Approach; Cantilever Southeast Approach; Cantilever Southwest Approach; Chester Road; Egypt Street; Friars Gate; Grappenhall Road; Hallaway; Hunts Lane; Mersey Street; New Lane; Palmyra Square North; Palmyra Square South; Rylands Street; St Austins Lane; Springfield Street; Stockton Lane; Suez Street; Warrington Old Bridge; Warrington New Bridge; Wash Lane; Winmarleigh Street.
Part lengths of road: Academy Street from Academy Way to Mersey Street; Academy Way from Bridge Street to Moulders Lane; Church Lane from Chester Road to Broad Lane; Grappenhall Lane from New Lane to Barleycastle Lane; Knutsford Road (westbound) from Hallaway to Wilderspool Causeway; Knutsford Road (westbound) from Grange Avenue to Hallaway; Knutsford Road (eastbound) from Wilderspool Causeway to Grange Avenue; Lumb Brook Road from Grappenhall Road to New Lane; Loushers Lane from Wash Lane to Pearson Avenue; Museum Street from Bold Street to Winmarleigh Street; Sankey Street from Crosfield Street to Bold Street; Station Road from Knutsford Road to Grammar School Road; Wilderspool Causeway from Park Boulevard to Knutsford Road; Wilson Patten Street from Slutchers Lane to Bridge Foot; Witherwin Avenue from Lumb Brook Road to Astor Drive.
The Order will be effective on Sunday 22nd September 2024 as and when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the event organiser for the duration of the event. The alternative route will be via London Road, Walton Road, Chester Road, Slutchers Lane, Wilson Patten Street, Parker Street, Liverpool Road, Sankey Way, Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South, Knutsford Road, Cliff Lane and vice versa.
The restrictions are required to facilitate The Warrington Running Festival.
