Man arrested after armed police swoop near primary school

ARMED police swooped at an address in Warrington this afternoon and the road closed off as officers made an arrest following reports of a man with a firearm entering a property.

A police dog van was scrambled to Samuel Street along with armed officers and a drone was sent up shortly before 2pm.
It’s understood a search of the property took place.
The address is close to Evelyn Street Primary School.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson confirmed: “At 12.53pm police were called to an address in Samuel Street in Warrington following reports of a man with a firearm entering the address.
Officers including firearms officers and a dog patrol attended, supported by the police drone. They gained access to the address and detained a 45-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. He remains in custody.
The road reopened shortly before 3pm.
