WARRINGTON Town manager Mark Beesley has resigned following the club’s FA Cup exit at the weekend.

In a statement issued on Sunday afternoon, the club announced it had accepted his resignation which comes after eight years at the club.

Beesley was the manager that led the Yellows to the highest ever league position the town has ever seen, 12th in National League North last season, following promotion the previous year.

However, they have only won three of their last 17 games, dating back to last season.

The statement said: “Warrington Town can confirm it has accepted the resignation of Mark Beesley from his role as manager.

“Following discussions last night and this morning, his eight-year run as part of the club’s management team has come to an end.

“During his tenure, the club has grown with average attendances climbing from 547 in his first season to almost 1,200 last term.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Mark for his contribution and wish he and his family all the best for the future.”

A further announcement about moving forward is expected next week, with the Yellows next in action against Spennymoor Town on Saturday.
