Residents invited to provide feedback on proposed extension to South East Warrington

A PROPOSED extension to South East Warrington is being planned by Homes England – with sustainability at its heart along with a series of events for residents to provide feedback.

The area, taking in Appleton Cross and surrounding areas has been allocated for development in Warrington Borough Council’s Local Plan and the extension will seek to integrate new residential neighbourhoods with the existing communities in and around Warrington, providing new homes and facilities that reflect both the aspirations of the local area and meet the needs of future residents.

While Homes England is in the very early stages of this process, it wants to ensure there is an opportunity to understand what people want to see in South East Warrington and hence local people are encouraged to get involved in the forthcoming engagement period.
A series of events will be held where residents can meet the team, learn more about the site and provide feedback. These will be held on:

3.00pm – 8.00pm, Wednesday 11 September
Olde Barn, Grappenhall Community Centre, Bellhouse Lane,
Warrington, WA4 2SG
10.00am – 3.00pm, Saturday 14 September
Appleton Parish Hall, Warrington, WA4 5EQ
11.00am – 5.00pm, Friday 20 September
St Matthews Church Hall, Stretton, WA4 4NT
6.00pm, – 7.00pm, Thursday 26 September
Online webinar – details available on the Homes England website
Local people can also visit www.southeastwarrington.co.uk to find out more and give feedback.

Alongside the opportunity to give opinions on the wider South East Warrington Urban Extension, the events will also provide the chance for residents to find out more about Homes England’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of a comprehensive development at Appleton Cross Local Centre. Located adjacent to the recently completed “Orchard Meadows” development, it provides a sustainable location for a new health centre alongside other complementary uses that will serve the local area.
A spokesperson for Homes England said, “We are committed to working with the local community to understand residents’ views and local aspirations for the site. Meaningful engagement is at the heart of our approach to new development and we would encourage people to have their say and help shape the plans.”
