Three sisters set themselves marathon challenge

THREE sisters from Warrington have set themselves the marathon challenge of raising £6,000 for Alzheimer’s research – by running the London Marathon next year.

Hannah, Emily and Sarah Greenwood are taking on a massive challenge on April 27 next year to help raise essential money for Alzheimer’s Society!

Alzheimer’s Society is a charity very close to their hearts. Their Nanna had dementia for a number of years before she sadly passed away in 2017 and their Grandma also suffered with problems with her memory before she passed away earlier this year.

The girls said: “We have witnessed first-hand the challenges people with this cruel disease face and the heartbreak it causes for their family and friends. Dementia takes a loved one’s memories, independence and personality until they are unrecognisable as the person they once were.
“During the next 10 months, we will be doing lots of fundraising before taking on the marathon on 27th April 2025. We would appreciate any support/donations to help us raise our target of £6000. None of us are natural runners, so this will be a massive physical and mental challenge! However, it will be nothing in comparison to the daily struggles faced by those with dementia.”

1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime.

The girls hope to raise £6000 by running the marathon and are well on their way after raising a massive £2867.80 at a summer garden party at their home.

Seventy of their fabulous family and friends came along and so generously donated their time and money to the cause.

Proud mum Liz said: “We were totally overwhelmed with their generosity and the love shown to our girls embarking on this journey.
“The grand total raised on the day including the online payments already made was a massive £2867.80
“We would have course, like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts and everyone that has donated so far.
“A huge thank you to all the businesses also that so generously donated vouchers and gifts for our raffle. We could not have raised this without their generosity.
“We still have a way to go and any future donations will be greatly received and appreciated for this worthy cause.”
