The service area will be decorated for the anniversary and will feature a 70’s themed quiz, coffee tasting, cake and cupcakes, a history board of Burtonwood, and outdoor games and goodie bags for kids.
The service area also boasts a Hall of Fame, having welcomed several high-profile visitors over the years, including TV presenters Ant and Dec, Hollywood actor David Hasselhoff, and Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

Welcome Break Burtonwood

Welcome Break Burtonwood is renowned for its unique modernist architecture, designed by the esteemed architect Patrick Gwynne. Adding to its charm and mystique, the service area is built on the site of the former RAF Burtonwood, used by the US Air Force during World War II. This historical significance is further enhanced by rumours of ghost sightings, with many claiming to have seen the ghost of a US airman lingering on the premises.
Akib Neamat, Welcome Break Burtonwood Site Leader, said: “Celebrating 50 years at Welcome Break Burtonwood is a significant milestone that highlights our commitment to exceptional service and memorable guest experiences. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our grand birthday bash as we honour our history and anticipate a bright future together.”
