TEN-man Warrington Rylands went down 1-0 at Hebburn Town on the opening day of the season despite the heroics of goalkeeper Luke Pilling who had a busy afternoon.

Just ten minutes into the game Luke Pilling was forced to make the first of many diving saves but with Hebburn constantly knocking on the door he couldn’t save a low shot from Olly Martin.

Ntumba Massanka came close to equalising when through on goal but was brought down just outside of the penalty area and, strangely, the perpetrator only received a yellow card.

Just a minute later Liam Morris saw red for an off-the-ball incident.

The winds swirled around the ground but Rylands continually played the long ball which rarely found its target.

Hebburn are an experienced side who knew how to play the game and made The Blues chase every ball. Mark Duffy used all of his substitutes and toward the end of the match his players put pressure on The Hornets, but could not find a way past the strong defence.

Warrington Ryland’s next match will be at The Hive Arena, Gorsey Lane on Tuesday 13 August at 7.45 pm when they host Ashton United.
