WITH the Creamfields music festival at Daresbury rapidly approaching a local councillor says residents are dismayed at the lack of consultation.
For the first time in many years, Walton residents have not been directly included in any pre-event discussions.
Chair of Walton Parish Council Cllr Sharon Harris said: “I have always welcomed dialogue with Cream management and the Police prior to the event and this year Walton residents and their concerns have been completely ignored.
“Instead ‘drop-in’ sessions in Daresbury were arranged in May with no direct invitation to Walton residents. I attended one of these and it was disappointing that the set up did not encourage any detailed exploration of resident’s issues.
“I also wrote directly to Cream management asking for a resident’s meeting and I have not had any response. As a Walton resident, I would expect to have been sent the same information as Daresbury and Halton residents so I was upset to see information on a Facebook page for Halton residents about new measures to combat trespassing after the event. As each year goes by Cream increasingly ignores local Walton residents and their concerns.”
Cheshire Police said it was down to Creamfields to comment as they are just employed to police the event.
Creamfields have been approached for comment.
