A COMPETITION to find future architectural talent in the North West has been won by a creative high school pupil from Warrington.

Redrow NW, currently building at Daresbury Garden Village on Delph Lane, launched a hunt for imaginative ‘Archi-tots of the future’ aged between four and 16, to design their very own house of the future suitable as part of the housebuilder’s 50th birthday celebrations.
Olivia Mazurek, 13, from St. Gregory’s Catholic High School in Warrington, created an eco-friendly home which featured solar panels, solar reflective windows, a roof garden and fingerprint recognition doors.
The home impressed the Redrow judging panel based on its well thought-through, quirky design, and sustainability focus.
As Redrow NW’s new ‘Archi-tot’, Olivia has been awarded a prize of £150 in Amazon vouchers. As well as winning Amazon vouchers worth £300 for her school to encourage all her classmates to get creative too.

Olivia said: “When I found out that I won I felt sense of excitement and relief. I felt very proud and happy that my hard work got recognised. In future I will work towards my dream of becoming an architect.”
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Redrow NW, said: “To celebrate our 50th year of housebuilding, we’ve been looking to the future by calling on the North West’s most creative young talent to imagine what a home will look like in 2074.
“At Redrow, we strive to be at the forefront of design and innovation and are committed to building responsibly – and we were so impressed that our values were reflected in Olivia’s design that she just had to be the winner.
“We’ve no doubt Olivia could have a promising architectural career ahead of her should she choose to and are sure she’ll be living in a home just like her design, fifty years from now!”

Mr Ed McGlinchey, head teacher at St. Gregory’s Catholic High School said: “It was great to hear the news that Olivia had won this competition. We are very proud of her and her incredible design. Thank you to the team at Redrow for our vouchers too which will be put to good use.”
Daresbury Garden Village will eventually include 800 homes across 120 acres of land, with open spaces, green corridors and areas for play. The development features Redrow’s hugely popular Arts and Crafts inspired Heritage Collection with a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes available.
