Bewsey man to face trial after denying serious assault on police officer

A Bewsey man is to face trial accused of a serious assault on a police officer in Warrington town centre.

Pranas Zaliauskis pleaded not guilty at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday (Monday) to wounding the constable with intent to prevent the lawful apprehension of himself on June 27 this year at Warrington.

The 32-year-old also denied possessing a Stanley knife in Sankey Street on the same date.

Zaliakuskis, of Lovely Lane, was further remanded on bail by the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Andrew Menary KC to await his trial beginning on March 17.
