UPDATED: TWO men and a woman have been arrested at Lymm following numerous reports of a man with a knife in the village on Thursday evening.
Police are now seekign witnesses tot he incident after arresting two men on suspicion of affray, possession of a knife and racially aggravated assault. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
Confirming the arrests and stating there was no wider risk to the public, Warrington Police took to social media last night and posted: “Following numerous calls to us regarding a man with a knife in the Lymm area we can confirm we have quickly arrested 3 people.
“Thank you to the members of the public who contacted us – there is no wider risk to the public but we will increase patrols in the area for your reassurance.”
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 7.50pm on Thursday 25 July, police were called to reports of a man with a knife in Lymm, Warrington.
“Officers swiftly attended and arrested two men on suspicion of affray, possession of a knife, and racially aggravated assault.
“A woman was also arrested on suspicion of assault.
