Plan to demolish a farmhouse and replace it with a new dwelling

PLANS to demolish a farmhouse and replace it with a new dwelling with garaging in Hatton Lane, Hatton have been submitted to Warrington planning chiefs.

Hatton Lane Farm has not been used as a working farm for more than 40 years and adjoining barns have been used for storage and vehicle workshops.
There is no working land attached to the property, it having been sold off many years ago.
The original house is thought to date from the 1800s.
A report to be considered by planners indicates that the new owners of the site wish to develop a family home, but that the existing buildings are not suitable for conversion.
Consequently, they wish to demolish the old farmhouse and redevelop the site with a cluster of buildings that would emulate local, historical farmsteads, arranged around a courtyard with a principal “farmhouse” in the centre of the settlement.
This would sit comfortably into the surrounds and appear as if it had been there for a long time.
The house would be built in Cheshire red brick with buff stone features.
Access to the site would be on a straight section of Hatton Lane and there would be ample space within an “arrival courtyard” to turn vehicles so that could exit in a forward direction.
Borough council planning officers are now considering the proposals.
