A Warrington woman designer has capitalised on creative hobby by selling 48,000 cards on leading online marketplace.
Jenny, also known as the independent designer, Presents Felt, has turned her creative hobby into a job that she is passionate about, selling a whopping 48,000 cards on leading greetings card marketplace, thortful.
The designer, from Warrington, began her creative journey in 2017 during her late-dad’s long illness, whereby she sat by his side and in waiting rooms for hours sketching and designing.
She says, “I always maintain that this kept me afloat during what was an incredibly painful time.”
Jenny went on to say, “Creating for thortful over the last few years has been utterly brilliant! I love daydreaming about card designs and the fact I can create them at my own pace and from anywhere – even sitting in the great outdoors.”
Whilst her card designing has created an escape for Jenny, she also says she has been able to capitalize on her creative hobby, claiming that money she earns from the business pays for not only her tools, but her numerous getaways which help to spark eve more creative ideas.
The greetings card industry is predicted to be worth £355.5 million1, making it an extremely lucrative industry for independent creatives.
A spokesperson from thortful adds, “We’ve paid out £11.7 million in royalties to our amazing creators to date and look forward to supporting more independent creators moving forward. It’s amazing to see that people can make a living out of a talent and hobby that brings them joy.”
