FIRE ENGINES from all around the Warrington area were called out early today (Sunday) after an automatic fire alarm was activated at the Athelis gym at Apollo Park, Warrington.

Four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform from Warrington, Lymm, Birchwood, Penketh and Stockton Heath were sent to the scene at 01.13

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building – a large commercial gym – and found a developing fire in a laundry room.
A hose reel jet was used to tackle the blaze which was soon extinguished.
Further checks were made to ensure the fire had not spread and the building was ventilated.
