WARRINGTON Rylands lengthened their run of unbeaten pre-season friendlies with a 2-1 win over National League side Oldham Athletic at the Hive Arena, Gorsey Lane on Tuesday evening.
New manager Mark Duffy is gradually building a squad in a bid to better their impressive 2023-24 campaign that saw them fall just short of promotion from the Northern Premier League.
Early in the first half Oldham took the lead from a free kick. The shot bounced back into play after hitting a defender and was then slotted into the bottom corner past a diving Luke Pilling.
Continuous pressure from The Blues resulted in a mistake by the travelling side and were soon back on level terms after Ntumba Massanka chipped the ball over an indecisive keeper.
Trialists joined the play for the second half and once again Athletic buckled under pressure and Rylands scored their second goal.
The National League side had no response to the home side; Warrington Rylands had many chances to increase the score and Pilling was not called upon to make any serious save.
The next game will be on Saturday 20th July when they travel to the Syncreon Arena to face Vauxhall Motors FC.
