Village road closures in place for Stockton Heath Walking Day

VARIOUS road closures will be in place in Stockton Heath this Saturday (July 13) for the annual Walking Day event.

The road closures will be in place from 1:30 pm to 4 pm with local diversions in place during the annual Walking Day Walk of Witness involving local churches and community groups.

Warrington Borough Council has made an order on the occasion of the above-mentioned events, no cart, carriage, motor car, lorry or other vehicle (excepting vehicles taking part in the event, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service vehicles and Mail Carts) and no horses or other animal be allowed to remain in or travel along or over any of the undermentioned streets:

Between the hours of 1:30pm and 4.00pm on Saturday 13th July 2024:
Alexandra Road
Ellesmere Road from London Road to Francis Road
Grappenhall Road from Sandy Lane to London Road
London Road from Sandy Lane to Ellesmere Road
Walton Road from London Road to Belvoir Road
Bedford Street
Chapel Lane
Francis Road
Parkgate Road
Heath Street
Victoria Road
West Avenue
Alternative routes will be available for through traffic
(i) via B5156 Fairfield Road, Ackers Road, A56 Chester Road, A56 Grappenhall Road and Sandy Lane.
(ii) via Sandy Lane, A56 Grappenhall Road, A56 Chester Road, Ackers Road, Hunts Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, A5061 and Knutsford Road.
(iii) via Belvoir Road, Whitefield Road, Cawdor Street, Orchard Street, Sandy Lane and vice versa.

Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term “vehicle” and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified. Any person willfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.
Vehicular access to premises will only be permitted under the guidance of the organisers. Pedestrian and emergency routes will be maintained.
