LYMM Historic Transport Day proved to be a huge success with 10,000 people in attendance, helping raise a record £12,000 for good causes, which is now being distributed to 19 fantastic charities.

Organisations to benefit from Lymm Historic Transport Day include the Lymm Heritage Centre, which is receiving £3,000. A total of £6,000 is being donated to the local organisations that volunteered to help organise the event, including Warrington East Scouts, Lymm Swimming Club, Lymm Air Cadets, Lymm Rugby Club, Seven Springs Girl Guides, St Rocco’s Hospice, 4th Lymm Scouts, 6th Lymm Brownies and Lymm High PTA.

The remaining £3,000 is being donated to transport related charities, including the Cheshire Blood Bikes, the RNLI, Bikeability, the Wooden Canal Boat Society and the National Traction Engine Trust.
Organiser of transport day Jack Levy said: “Many people don’t realise that all our profits go to charity. We’ve already had the following messages of thanks back from people;

“A huge thank you to the Transport Day organisers, Lymm Swimming Club are extremely grateful for your donation. This will enable us to continue with the Transport Day bursary and train two teenage members of the club to become volunteer swimming teachers, which will benefit the children of Lymm and the surrounding community. We are over the moon!” Pam, Lymm Swimming Club

“This donation will go a long way to help the squadron maintain, develop, and purchase new training aids. Examples of activities that we self-fund are air rifle shooting, clay target shooting, adventure training including DofE, first aid training, synthetic flight training (flight simulators) and much more. We’re always looking to expand in these areas and I’m positive that we can put the donation to use to help expand the opportunities our cadets get with us. ” Louis, Lymm Air Cadets

“Wow, that is a fantastic amount, thank you so much. The Explorers are fundraising for an International Expedition to the Azores in 2025, where they will learn about a new culture, Scouting in another country, wildlife and adventure. This donation means that no child gets left behind regardless of their financial/domestic situation.” Rebecca, Warrington East Scouts

Jack added: “Finally, we are looking for a few more people to come on board and join our transport day organising committee. If anyone is interested in joining our fab team then they can get in touch via [email protected]
