Imaginative plans to restore historic farmhouse as two dwellings.

IMAGINATIVE plans to restore and extend a historic farmhouse and convert it into two dwellings have been put to Warrington planning chiefs.

The scheme involves Grade 2 Listed Cinnamon Farm, in Cinnamon Lane, Poulton-with-Fearnhead.
Originally a working farm, but latterly a private residence, the original rural surroundings have been lost beneath late 20th-century housing.
The site consists mainly of a house and barn, both at one time listed at Grade 2. The house has been vacant for some time and the barn is long derelict and has been delisted. Both are an enclosed large plot which is the remnant of a former farmyard.
The house is said to have probably been an early-mid 18th-century rebuilding of an earlier property that was further altered in the early-mid 19th century. It consists of a main range to the front and a narrow wing to the rear.

The derelict delisted barn, is thought to be late 18th or early 19th century and consists of a main range containing a threshing barn and probable stable and shippon along with a rear wing containing a further stable and pig sty.
A small derelict and overgrown outbuilding, west of the house, which had been built between 1892 and 1907 and was of no particular interest no longer exists. It collapsed when the site was being cleared of overgrowth, with the remainder having to be demolished owing to its unsafe condition and dangerous structure.
The barn is now in a dangerous and unstable condition.
The application seeks full planning permission and listed building consent for the renovation of the Grade II Listed Farmhouse as two dwellings. It is said to be in a very poor state of repair and would require significant investment to bring it back into active use.
The remaining barn is in very poor condition and structurally unsound as a result of fire damage and subsequent deterioration. Listed building consent is sought for its demolition and site clearance.
Warrington Borough Council planning officers are now considering the proposals.
