Westland Horticulture, home to brands such as Big Tom, Boost, Resolva, Unwins, and Kent & Stowe, has selected Warrington Youth Zone to receive a charitable donation from its New Horizon Fund.

Westland believes everyone deserves to enjoy an outdoor space, and access to a garden area provides a host of benefits to both physical and mental wellbeing. The Westland New Horizon Fund is supporting community gardening projects throughout the UK and Ireland during 2024, allowing more people the opportunity to get closer to nature.
Entries to the New Horizon Fund are judged throughout the year to select deserving winners, the first of which has been judged by TV gardening personality, Adam Frost, who selected Warrington Youth Zone among others. The Warrington Youth Zone helps to transform the lives of young people across Warrington, supporting their development and offering opportunities to gain and increase their skills, knowledge, self-awareness, and confidence.

Adam Frost commented: “The work that the volunteers do at the Warrington Youth Zone to support the young people of the surrounding areas and give them a place to play and learn really stood out to me as a deserving winner of the Westland New Horizon Fund. The Warrington Youth Zone has a dream to build a sensory garden for the young people to enjoy as well as a place that supports and attracts wildlife. I hope the donation of gardening goodies they receive from Westland can make a real impact on their space.”
Isabelle Rudge, Creative Arts Coordinator, said: “We are so pleased to be chosen for this charitable donation from the Westland New Horizon Fund, the resources will be used towards improving the lives of all young people across Warrington, more specifically within the sensory garden to broaden our approach to inclusivity of all young people. The donation will enable us to provide regular gardening activities, which will overall, improve the wellbeing of our young people. This will also have a positive environmental impact on wildlife in the town centre.”

Helen Amos, Head of Category, at Westland, added: “The New Horizon Fund set out to support community gardening projects, and we’re excited to see Warrington Youth Zone’s outdoor space thrive and allow the children the opportunity to engage with nature. Our team have created a bundle of gardening goodies, worth £1,000, that we hope will help to build a beautiful sensory garden that will be a welcoming and inclusive space to be enjoyed by the young people of Warrington.”
