Highway restrictions in town centre for Krazy Races

A number of highway restrictions will be in place in Warrington town centre this Sunday (June 16) as Krazy Races come to town.

Warrington Business Improvement District (BID), in partnership with Sarah Belcher Events Ltd, Krazy Races will see up to 40 teams build and race their own go-karts downhill, while tackling the track with chicanes, obstacles, water and more.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice that, on the occasion of the above-mentioned event, no cart, carriage, motor car, lorry or other vehicle (excepting vehicles taking part in the event, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service vehicles and Mail Carts) and no horses or other animal be allowed to remain in or travel along or over any of the undermentioned streets between the hours of 4am and 9pm on Sunday 16th June 2024 as follows:

Bridge Street Between Market Gate and its junction with to Friars Gate
Buttermarket Street Between Academy Street and Market Gate.
Horsemarket Street Its entire length
Market Gate Its entire length
Rylands Street Between Barbauld Street and its junction with Bridge Street

Suspension of Existing Order:
The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Town Centre Pedestrian Zone) (Movement) Order 2018 is hereby suspended in so far as it relates to Schedule 3 – Prohibition of Driving (7:30am to 10am & 4pm to 6pm) as follows:
Bridge Street Between Market Gate and its junction with Dolmans Lane.
Buttermarket Street Between Academy Street and Market Gate.
Horsemarket Street Its entire length
Market Gate Its entire length

N.B. An alternative route will be available for through traffic via: Barbauld Street.
Vehicular access to premises will only be permitted under the guidance of the organisers. Pedestrian and emergency routes will be maintained.
Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term “vehicle” and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified. Any person willfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.
