Special Lymm Festival concert to raise funds for children’s charity

BROADWAY and West End hits will be coming to Lymm Festival this June – and it’s all for a good cause.

Altrincham Garrick Show Choir will be staging a special concert to raise money for a local charity, Friends of Frankie.

The choir has more than 100 members from across Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Festival concert-goers will be treated to a night of show tunes from the likes of ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Chess’ and ‘Six’.

Choir member John Groves said: “Frankie’s parents set up the charity after he died unexpectedly in his sleep when he was just three years old.
“This will be an inspirational concert that brings people together through the power of live music. Money raised will go towards supporting families and research into the causes of sudden unexpected death in children.”

Garrick Theatre’s operations director Sarah Reilly said: “The choir was set up in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength.
“We perform several times every year, but this will be our first outing in Lymm. We hope the local community will come along to hear something different and support this very worthwhile cause.”
One of the concert highlights will be a seven-minute medley of songs from “La La Land”, which is rarely performed in the UK because of its fast pace and tongue-twister lyrics.

Altrincham Garrick Show Choir’s ‘A Night of Show Tunes’ concert in aid of Friends of Frankie will take place at Lymm Baptist Church on Friday 21 June at 7.30pm as part of Lymm Festival. Tickets are on sale now, priced £10. www.lymmfestival.org.uk
