Firefighters tackle fire in the open and tree fire

FIRE crews from Warrington were called out to tackle a suspected deliberate fire in the open at Padgate and a tree fire at Old Hall.

At 18:15 yesterday, Sunday, firefighters attended reports of a fire in the open on a footpath near Birchwood Way, Padgate.

Firefighters used water backpacks and buckets of water to put out a fire that is believed to have been started deliberately.

Earlier in the day at 15:38, a crew attended reports of a tree on fire on Shackleton Close, Old Hall.

Two hose reel jets were used by firefighters to put out a fire involving a large conifer tree in a garden. The property was not affected.
