Man admits arson with intent to endanger life at mental health facility

A Warrington man has admitted arson with intent to endanger life at a Liverpool mental health facility.

Philip Massey, of Mobberley Close, Grappenhall and Thelwall, yesterday (Thursday) pleaded guilty to setting fire to furniture and fittings belonging to the NHS at the Broadoak Unit in Thomas Drive in Broadgreen, Liverpool on December 27 last year.

The 31-year-old also admitted criminal damage on the same occasion.

Sentence was adjourned until June 28 to enable psychiatric and pre-sentence reports to be prepared and he was further remanded in custody.
